soccer in times of Franco
Franco was a Spanish dictator. This dictatorship affected many things in Spain, economy, family and also the Spanish pastime soccer. Franco's favorite team was Real Madrid, this lead the team to win majority of the championships when Franco was alive. Many soccer players died under the hand of Franco. There were many players from other teams that escaped to Argentina with the fear that Franco would kill them. Many of Barcelona's soccer team presidents would be killed. Many teams started to be controlled by the government. Athletico Bilbao was the strongest team at the time, this was due to the weather they were used to play, they played in wet muddy fields and that made them strong compared to the other players that were used to play in perfect grass. The same thing went off for years, Real Madrid winning games because of the fear from other players and the francists people killing players that disrespected or didn't follow the ideology of franco's perfect Spain.
